The Australian Multicultural Media Centre (AMMC) is both a media platform and an advocacy organistion with a wide network of supporters across the Not-for-Profit sector, government and business. We run a dedicated video-streaming website for multicultural communities in Australia (www.ammc.org.au).
The AMMC functions as an online and in-person platform training young people in media and offering video coverage of various aspects of the lives of diverse Australians and their relationship with the broader community. It showcases interviews with key thought leaders in government and the community on issues of importance to diverse community members.
The AMMC proactively uses the media as an instrument to pursue a community-driven agenda to create positive social change for diverse Australians
As an advocacy body, AMMC provides multicultural Australians with opportunities to celebrate their success, address their challenges, and elevate their hopes and aspirations. AMMC works to increase capacity and confidence within multicultural Australia.
We use the media as a vehicle to bring about change in the way some diverse communities, like African-Australians, are being perceived in the media and interact with the broader community.
